DESCRIPTION
Illustration from Revd. William Dodd's book "Thoughts in Prison" taken from a "Cooke's Pocket Edition" publ. 1810. Revd. Dodd was a lecturer, chaplain to the King and a popular preacher whose tendency to live beyond his means got him into serious trouble, ending in a failed attempt at forgery and a famous trial. Despite Samuel Johnson's efforts on his behalf, Dodd became the last person to be hanged at Tyburn, in 1777.
